- Just a quick word about what this does...
-
- This is best used by people who have only one drive-but it can be used by
- multidrive users too.(No disk access is needed so 2 disk applications can
- be used in comfort ie no swapping!).
-
- If you have got a disk that you want to print from but cannot for one
- reason or another then you'll need this.(Slight indications of confusion
- in the crowd...).Perhaps an example will explain it better-a classic
- example is that of the utility compilation where you want to get a print
- out of a doc file. When you click on `print' (on the text viewer-probably
- PPmore) you come up with the message `cannot open printer.device' and your
- lovely new printer just sits there looking pathetic. What do you do?
- Waste money on books? Ask the science tutor for help? Die? YES! err...
- NO! you just click on the icon, wait for it to do it's stuff and then shove
- your disk in the drive. Now load up the doc file from workbench (it HAS got
- an icon hasn't it?),click on `print' and <gasp> your mean machine printer
- gives up in disgust and spits your doc file out!
- Seriously, this is not just limited to text files; You can also print
- from paint packages (such as DPaint) and it reaches the parts that manuals
- cannot reach. It also means no fretting in the CLI for beginners-You don't
- have to waste time copying files from disk to disk just to get a print-out.
- IMPORTANT! The system is set up to print using the EPSON driver. If you wish
- to print using a different driver (PERMANANTLY) then just follow these simple
- steps BEFORE clicking on `Disk Change`:
-
- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- Do this BEFORE clicking on `Disk Change`
-
- 1) Use PPrefs to highlight your driver and SAVE to the (backup) disk.
-
- 2) Next load `Disk Change` into QED.
-
- 3) Without touching anything else,replace EPSON with <NEWDRIVERNAME>
- and save as `Disk Change`.
-
- 4) Now you can click on `Disk Change` and proceed as normal.
-
- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- After you have done the first 3 steps you can reset the computer
- knowing that next time you click on `Disk Change` you can print from
- any disk using your printer driver.
-
- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- By the way if you want to print doc files that don't have icons
- then use PPmore,View80 or PPtype after clicking on `Disk Change`.
-
- Enough waffle-This is getting dangerously close to a full blown doc
- file,and theres a shortage of 10ps for the electricity meter.Hold on...It's
- stopped turning.Oh ...
